“Was this the face that launched a thousand ships?” No. That’s bullshit.
Helen of Troy is not putting up with this nonsense anymore. She never asked to be the Most Beautiful Woman in the World - and who even decided that she was, anyway? She never asked anyone to launch those ships. All Helen did was fall in love and run away with Paris, the prince of Troy. Why is it her fault that thousands of dudes followed her and fought a war for ten years? And don’t you dare ask what she was wearing.
Helen has survived through the last 3000 years, fragmented in the footnotes of epic poems, classical literature, and contemporary culture. This debut solo performance from Amy Clare Tasker pieces together a new image of Helen - and she’s here to set the record straight. This is the story of the story of Helen of Troy. Listen up.
